Car Hire Gran Canaria Airport
Travelling to the island of Gran Canaria? Then you'll arrive in via Gran Canaria Airport (LPA) which is also sometimes referred to as Gando Airport. It's the sixth busiest airport in Spain in terms of passengers and is the busiest out of all the Canary Islands.
Having only one terminal can make the airport seem pretty busy with the 12 million passengers that pass through every year, but finding your car rental pick up location is fairly straight forward.
Gran Canaria is a fantastic holiday for low budget sun, but if you want to make the most of it and travel to various different parts of the island then a hired car will be your best option.
Where To Pick Up My Hired Car - Gran Canaria Airport
It's straight forward to pick up your car at Gran Canaria Airport, there are dozens of different car hire companies and they are located just after the customs area when you arrive. There easy to see and you won't miss them on your way out of the airport, majority of the companies are based there but there is one just outside the terminal that requires you to get a shuttle bus.
The companies in the airport include Budget, Inter Rent, Goldcar, Thrifty, Hertz and the company outside of the airport is Orlando Rent a Car.
Gran Canaria Airport - Car Hire Offers
Here at Travellation we will always work hard to find you the best price possible so you don't have to. We compare all the rental companies in and around the airport to provide you with a quote on your required days, this means we can easily find you the best site whilst adding no commission.
If you're still not sold on us, then we also have some fantastic offers to tell you about at the airport:
Gran Canaria Airport - Debit Card Car Hire
Are you hiring a car at Gran Canaria Airport but don't have a credit card in your name? Well this can cause a few issues as most rental companies won't allow for you to hire a car because of this. We've managed to find a few suppliers at the airport however who will accept you Visa Debit cards, and you can find out more on our debit card car hire Spain page.
Gran Canaria Airport - No Deposit Car Hire
Have you hired a car before? Then you may be aware that rental companies can hold thousands of pounds on your card for the duration of your rental as a safety deposit, and obviously if you want these funds to spend on your holiday this can have a real impact. Another deal we have managed to arrange is a zero deposit car hire deal at Gran Canaria Airport, you can read more about this by clicking on our no deposit car hire page.
Gran Canaria Airport - Young Driver Car Hire
Under 25 and tried hiring a car? Then you may be aware that majority of car hire companies will just turn you away, not us however! We have deals with several suppliers to allow young drivers to hire, but you do have to pay a surcharge, in order to still provide you with a great price we have compared all these surcharges so you can find the lowest possible rental price. You can find out more about hiring a car under the age of 25 on our young driver car hire page.
Prices As Low As £7/p Day - What's The Catch?
Spain has really cheap rental prices and people are often cautious or worried about this so they go ahead and read some reviews online, the country in general gets a bad wrap, which also of course includes Gran Canaria. As long as you read the T&Cs of your rental you won't be hit with any unexpected fees, but to help you out we have collated some of the top car hire issues we commonly find:
Additional Charges: Often car hire companies in Spain will try hard sell you on additional charges, a common one is protecting your quite high excess, paying for additional drivers and some include an admin fee on top of your rental, but not all. We stress if you read the T&Cs you will be able to find a rental in Alicante at a fantastic price without being stung.
Upgrade: The language barrier also sometimes can complicate this, again car rental companies at the airport often try and upsell so they may offer you an upgrade, but make it sound more like "your in luck". Ensure that you are not paying for the upgrade before receiving the car. This is only usually the case with smaller Spanish rental companies such as Goldcar or Centauro.
Full To Full Fuel Policy: People can be a little prickly about this one, in Spain and well most other countries car hire works on a full to full policy, meaning that you get the car with a full tank and need to return it with a full tank.
There is an El Paso 2000 service station right near the airport just on the GC-191/Av. De Carlos V which is off of Junction 18 and slightly south of the airport. To avoid being effected by the full to full policy, make sure you fill up here before returning the car!
Gran Canaria Airport - Other Useful Information
