Car Hire Ibiza Airport
If your travelling to Ibiza for your holiday then you will be flying to the Ibiza Airport (IBZ) which is the international airport that serves the Balearic Islands of Ibiza. It's a popular all year round destination but peaks in the summer period. The airport has around 7.4 million passengers pass through every year, so at times it can get pretty busy!
Of course with that amount of passengers there are several busy resorts on the island, which you can often get public transport from the airport, but for the lesser known resorts this can be a little bit harder so renting a car may be a suitable option, as well as the obvious freedom and flexibility it offers.

Prices As Low As £7/p Day - What's The Catch?
Well there isn't one, if your careful. In Spain the country gets a bad wrap for car hire in general, including at Ibiza Airport, as there are a few things which are different to hiring a car in the UK so you need to ensure that you are clued up on the T&Cs so that you don't pay anything extra. To help you out, we've detailed some of the common complaints for hiring a car in Spain:
Additional Charges: Often car hire companies in Spain will try hard sell you on additional charges, a common one is protecting your quite high excess, paying for additional drivers and some include an admin fee on top of your rental, but not all. We stress if you read the T&Cs you will be able to find a rental in Spain at a fantastic price without being stung.
Upgrade: The language barrier also sometimes can complicate this, again car rental companies at the airport often try and upsell so they may offer you an upgrade, but make it sound more like "your in luck". Ensure that you are not paying for the upgrade before receiving the car. This is only usually the case with smaller Spanish rental companies such as Goldcar or Centauro.
Full To Full Fuel Policy: People can be a little prickly about this one, in Spain and well most other countries car hire works on a full to full policy, meaning that you get the car with a full tank and need to return it with a full tank.
There isn't unfortunately a station within the airport itself, however Ibiza's town is located only around 10 minutes outside the airport, so ensure that you fill up here first. The last station before the airport is a BP garage on the main road.
Ibiza Airport - Other Useful Information
- Parking can be a bit of a nightmare in Ibiza, and you should always park in a designated spot, despite what locals do, to ensure that you aren't fined. Blue lines mean that you need to pay, and yellow lines mean that you can't park. Parking is also often free during the siesta or late at night.
- Be careful when refuelling! Gasoleo or Gazole means Diesel, not petrol!
- The drink driving limit in Ibiza is lower than the UK, having just one large beer will put you over, so drink aware!
